Something big is buzzing in the Wisconsin Conference UMC! This year, on World Malaria Day (Saturday, April 25, 2015), communities of faith across the state will band together to stomp out malaria. We are looking for teams of church members who would like to organize and host a walk. These walks could be organized by one or more local churches or as a circuit, and we are looking for sites all over the state. This is a great way to reach into your community and spread the word about a life-saving UMC project!

Host churches/circuits will be responsible for:

  • Assembling a Site Organizing Team – including a site contact person, treasurer, communications chair, and community recruitment chair.
  • Determining a route for the walk and coordinating with the appropriate city officials.
  • Coordinating the financial process to handle INM donations from your church and other churches in your area.
  • Publicizing the event at your church and in your community.
  • Organizing and overseeing the day-of walk volunteers.

Just remember, you are not alone in this effort! We have a ton of resources available to help you out!

The Conference office will help with:

  • Hosting a system of online registration and donations (more information will be published soon).
  • Creating printable INM Walk resources – everything from site organizers roles and responsibilities, sample timeline and calendar, customized event promotion materials, and add-on ideas to make your INM Walk unique and memorable.
  • Assisting with contacting other churches in your area, creating press releases, helping with social media, and other event promotion.
  • Helping to coordinate orders for national INM resources such as bracelets, flyswatters, tattoos, and much more!

If your church/circuit would like to be a host site for an INM Walk, please sign up BY FEBRUARY 25 at:
