Your Deliverer
"The Israelites again did what was evil in the sight of the Lord; and the Lord strengthened King Eglon of Moab against Israel, because they had done what was evil in the sight of the Lord. In alliance with the Ammonites and the Amalekites, he went and defeated Israel; and they took possession of the city of palms. So the Israelites served King Eglon of Moab eighteen years. But when the Israelites cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up for them a deliverer,” (Judges 3: 12-15a) New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
The Israelites’ behavior forms a pattern through the book of Judges: The Israelites wander from God; they are captured; God provides a deliverer.
We also form our own pattern when it comes to our relationship with God our creator. We find ourselves many times doing things that are not good, that are not in alignment with God’s purpose and wander from God. In our journey as individuals and as a community of faith we have also made some bad decisions and suffered the consequences. Then, as the Israelites, we cried out to God!
It should give us comfort to know that even during the most difficult trial, the Lord is in sovereign control. That trial is there by His will for our good. But He will not allow that trial to ultimately destroy us. The Lord allows these things into our lives to make us into the people He created us to be.
Ponder the word “deliver.” Consider times in your life when you have wandered, and God provided a deliverer—perhaps the deliverer was a person or an event or a group of people. If you could have a deliverer now, from what would you want to be delivered? What possible forms could that deliverer take?
Prayer: Gracious and Merciful God forgive us when we wander from you, when we do things that are not pleased to you. Listen when we cry to you Oh Lord. We give you thanks for Jesus Christ your son who delivers us from evil. In Jesus Christ, our Lord we pray, Amen!

Tu Libertador
"Volvieron los hijos de Israel a hacer lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, por lo cual Jehová fortaleció a Eglón, rey de Moab, contra Israel, porque había hecho lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová. El rey de Moab juntó consigo a los hijos de Amón y de Amalec, vino e hirió a Israel, y tomó la ciudad de las palmeras. Los Israelitas formaron un patrón de conducta a través del libro de Jueces: los Israelitas se alejaban de Dios; eran capturados; Dios les provee un libertador.
Nosotros también formamos nuestro patrón de conducta cuando se refiere a nuestra relación con Dios nuestro creador. Nos encontramos nosotros mismos muchas veces haciendo cosas que no son buenas, que no están en alineamiento con el propósito de Dios y nos alejamos de él.
En nuestra jornada como individuos y como comunidad de fe, nosotros también hemos tomado malas decisiones y sufrimos las consecuencias. Entonces, Como los Israelitas clamamos a Dios!
Nos debería de dar consuelo el saber que aun durante la prueba más difícil, el Señor esta en control soberano. Que la prueba está allí por su voluntad para nuestro bien. Pero él no permitirá que la prueba últimamente nos destruya. El Señor permitirá estas cosas en nuestras vidas para hacernos las personas que él quiere que seamos.
Reflexiona en la palabra “Libertador.” Considere aquellos tiempos en su vida en los cuales se alejo de Dios y él le proveyó un libertador-quizá el libertador fue una persona, o un evento, o un grupo de personas. Si usted pudiera tener un libertador ahora, de que le gustaría ser liberado/a? ¿Que posibles formas podría ese libertador tomar?
Oración: Dios de gracia y de misericordia, perdónanos cuando nos alejamos de ti, cuando hacemos cosas que no son de tu agrado. ¡Escucha cuando clamamos Oh Dios! Te damos gracias por Jesucristo tu hijo quien nos libera del mal. En Jesucristo nuestro Señor oramos, Amen!
