For those who love God
“We know that all things work together for good] for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.”
(Romans 8: 28) New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
I was eleven years old when my father died at the age of 38, and my mother had to work hard to raise seven children. So, at early age, I came to understand that All things are not good. It would be mockery to say that they are. The death of a child is not good. Cancer is not good, drug addiction is not good, war is not good, blasphemy is not good, the COVID-19 that is killing so many people is not good. Racism is not good, and the list can go on and on.
When the Apostle Paul says to the Romans that ”all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose” he is giving them comfort and assurance that even in the midst of suffering God has the power to make things work for good. All things don’t just happen to work out for good on their own. Rather, God providentially works all things together for good for His people according to His purpose.
As we go trough these difficult times may we remember that we are not alone, that God is with us, and that when we see the big picture, we can find that there are lot of good things happening. The resurrected Christ is in the midst! This is the mystery of our faith. That is why In our liturgy for communion we proclaim: Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again. It is in this hope that we live!
Prayer:
Gracious and loving God, when uncertainty and suffering seems to overwhelm us, may your grace and mercy cover us with your love. So that even during difficult times we can say with the apostle Paul “All things work for Good” by your providence and love.

Para aquellos que aman a Dios
“Sabemos, además, que a los que aman a Dios todas las cosas los ayudan a bien, esto es, a los que conforme a su propósito son llamados ”

Yo tenía 11 años cuando mi padre murió a la edad de 38 años, y mi madre tuvo que trabajar muy duro para criar a sus siete hijos e hijas. De manera que a temprana edad yo llegue a entender que no todas las cosas que nos suceden son buenas. Seria una burla decir que lo son. La muerte de un niño no es buena, un cáncer no es bueno, la adicción hacia las drogas no es buena, la guerra no es buena, la blasfemia no es buena, el Covid-19 que está matando a tanta gente no es bueno, y la lista pudiera continuar.
Cuando el apóstol Pablo le dice a los Romanos que “a los que aman a Dios todas las cosas los ayudan a bien, esto es, a los que conforme a su propósito son llamados” él les está dándoles fortaleza y la seguridad de que aun en medio del sufrimiento Dios tiene el poder de hacer que todas las cosas trabajen para bien. Todas las cosas no trabajan para bien por sí solas, sino que Dios en su providencia trabaja para que todas las cosas funciones para bien para su pueblo de acuerdo a su propósito.
A medida que atravesamos por estos tiempos difíciles, que nosotros podamos recordar que no estamos solos, que Dios esta con nosotros. Y que cuando nosotros podemos ver un cuadro más amplio o una foto más amplia de la realidad, entonces podremos darnos cuenta que hay mas cosas buenas que están sucediendo.
El Cristo Resucitado está en medio de la situación. Este es el misterio de nuestra fe. Eso es por lo que en nuestra liturgia para la comunión nosotros proclamamos:
Cristo ha muerto; Cristo ha Resucitado; Cristo vendrá otra vez.
Es en esta esperanza que nosotros vivimos.!
Oración:
Dios de gracia y de misericordia, cuando la incertidumbre y el sufrimiento parecen envolvernos, que tu gracia y tu misericordia nos cubran con tu amor. Y aun así en tiempos difíciles podamos decir con el Apóstol Pablo: “todas las cosas los ayudan a bien” En Jesucristo nuestro Señor, Amen!
