Resurrection, a new life for Challenging Time
“Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common. With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.” (Acts 4: 32-33) NRSV
I grew up in a devoted Roman Catholic family in my country of origin, El Salvador. My father was the choir director and my mother was part of the choir in our home church. I remember that as a kid, I always looked forward to Easter, because it was at Easter Sunday, after attending the early mass, that as a family we were able to go to the beach and have fun. As I grew up in stature and my Christian faith, I came to understand that Easter time is more than go to the beach and have fun; that Easter is the most meaningful and wonderful event for all humanity.
Through his Resurrection Jesus Christ defeated death! Without the resurrection, the belief in God's saving grace through Jesus is destroyed. When Jesus rose from the dead, he confirmed his identity as the Son of God. This was the message proclaimed with great power by his disciples “With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.” (Acts 4:33) It was this proclamation that changed people’s heart and created a new society, a new movement in which those who believed in Jesus were of one heart and soul, and held everything in common.
In these days of fear and uncertainty, where many people have lost their loved ones and others their jobs, may the proclamation of God’s love in Jesus Christ and his Resurrection be the source that brings the creation of a new society, a new humanity in which we can be more compassionate and practice justice toward one another.
Prayer:
Gracious and compassionate God, we thank you for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, your beloved Son. Give us the courage to proclaim the message of love and the power of the resurrection, so that we can participate and experience the creation of a new society where different races and cultures can live in harmony and mutual respect; a world where peace is built with justice and compassion guided by love. In Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen!

Resurrección, una nueva vida para Tiempos Difíciles,
“La multitud los que habían creído eran de un corazón y un alma. Ninguno decía ser suyo propio nada de lo que poseía, sino que tenían todas las cosas en común. Y con gran poder los apóstoles daban testimonio de la resurrección del Señor Jesús, y abundante gracia era sobre todos ellos.

Yo crecí en una familia Católica Romana muy devota, en mi país de origen, El Salvador. Mi padre era el Director del Coro y mi madre era miembra participante del coro en la iglesia local de mi ciudad.
Yo recuerdo que cuando era niño, siempre esperaba con ansias la llegada de la época de Resurrección, ya que era el Domingo de Resurrección, después de haber ido a la misa bien tempranito, que como familia podíamos ir a la playa y divertirnos. A medida que crecía en estatura y en mi fe Cristiana, pude llegar a entender que el tiempo de la tiempo de Resurrección era mucho más que ir al playa a divertirse. Que la Resurrección es el evento más significativo y maravilloso para toda la humanidad.
Atreves de su Resurrección, Jesucristo derroto la muerte! Sin Resurrección, la creencia de la gracia salvífica de Dios en Cristo Jesús queda destruida. Cuando Jesús se levantó de los muertos, el confirmo su identidad como el hijo de Dios. Este fue el mensaje proclamado con poder por discípulos: “Y con gran poder los apóstoles daban testimonio de la resurrección del Señor Jesús, y abundante gracia era sobre todos ellos.” (Hechos 4:33) Fue esta proclamación la que cambio el corazón de la gente, y creo una nueva sociedad, un nuevo movimiento en el cual aquellos que creyeron en Jesús eran de un solo corazón y alma, y tenían todas las cosas en común.
En estos días de temor e incertidumbre, donde mucha gente han perdido sus seres queridos, y otros han perdido sus trabajos, que la proclamación del amor de Dios en Cristo Jesús y su Resurrección sea una fuente para traer la creación de una nueva sociedad, una nueva humanidad en la cual podamos ser más compasivos y practicar la justicia los unos con los otros/as.
Oración:
Dios lleno de gracia y compasión, te damos gracias por la Resurrección de Jesucristo, tu hijo amado.Danos el valor para proclamar el mensaje de amor y el poder de la Resurrección de manera que podamos participar y experimentar la creación de una nueva sociedad donde las diferentes razas y culturas puedan vivir en armonía y respeto mutuo. Un mundo donde la paz se construya con justicia y compasión guiada por el amor, en Jesucristo nuestro Señor, Amen!
