We are witnesses to all that he did both in Judea and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree; but God raised him on the third day and allowed him to appear, not to all the people but to us who were chosen by God as witnesses, and who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one ordained by God as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.’

Gospel! Good news! Evangel – from which we get evangelism – literally in the Greek “well-message,” culminating in the resurrection of Jesus the Christ. We are witnesses to the incredible “well-message” of God through the Christ. “EVERYONE who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.” For those who claim inerrancy of scripture to those who question everything, this message is crystal clear – the grace and love and forgiveness and redemption of all who believe in Jesus Christ is God’s unconditional and free gift. Amazing grace indeed!
This is not cheap grace, but the free and total grace of God for God’s children. The resurrection of Jesus Christ unleashed and ratified a new covenant, the last covenant ever needed. God so loved this whole world, this awesome creation, and the souls and spirits of all people that Jesus came as emissary and steward of God’s vision and grace.
I speak of “radical inclusion and racial justice” on a regular basis, and it is my vision for our Wisconsin Conference during my remaining time here and beyond. This is an Easter vision. This is a vision where all divisiveness and hatred and prejudice and judgmentalism is “put to death,” transformed by God’s Holy Spirit into the new life of loving acceptance, encouragement, forgiveness, mercy, and justice. We are all God’s people, redeemed by our divine parent’s grace through Jesus the Christ and the Holy Spirit. We recognize infant baptism instead of requiring adult baptism as acknowledgment that this is God’s gift to us, not something we are required to do for God. There are many people today who cannot wrap their heads around real, true grace. Paul spent much of his time writing about it; John Wesley built an entire theology around it; the Holy Spirit continues to work in and through us to come to full understanding of its height, depth, length, breadth, and scope. Those whom we might try to leave out, God includes.
There are so many messages in our worldly culture that say “you’re not good enough, or pretty enough, or slim enough, or smart enough, or the right color or language or culture. You’re ugly or fat or stupid or too old or too young.” So many messages to steal our self-esteem and make us feel unwelcome, unloved, unwanted. These are not the messages or the heart of God.
Resurrection Spirit permeates all, invites all, includes all. God’s will for creation is that of a safe and trustworthy space for all people in all places at all times. Certainly, people may reject this, may oppose this, and may disconnect from this, but it is not God’s will. And no one has the right to take this free and glorious invitation and gift away from another. It is not our place to decide who belongs and who does not; that is up to God alone. But through the resurrection of Christ Jesus, the dividing wall were destroyed, the hostilities were rendered meaningless, and the gates were (and are) open wide.
Rejoice in this day, my beloved siblings in Christ, for Christ is risen; Christ is risen indeed – for all of us!
Prayer: Grand and glorious God, loving Parent, welcoming Sibling, and grace-filled Advocate, we praise you. We cannot express the joy of this day. Christ is alive forevermore, and we are the recipients of gospel grace, a gift given to us that we might have something wonderful to share with others. We give you our thanks and ask that you continue to bless us that we might be a blessing to others. In the name of our Risen Lord we pray. Amen.

¡Evangelio! ¡Buenas Nuevas! –de donde nosotros tenemos la palabra Evangelismo—literalmente en Griego “buen-mensaje,” culminando en la resurrección de Jesucristo. Somos testigos del increíble “buen-mensaje” de Dios a través de Cristo. “TODO aquel que cree en el recibe perdón de pecados a través de su nombre.” Desde aquellos que reclaman infalibilidad de las escrituras hasta aquellos que cuestionan todo, este mensaje está claro como un cristal—la gracia, el amor, el perdón, y la redención para todos aquellos quienes creen que Jesucristo es el regalo gratis e incondicional de Dios. ¡En verdad es gracia asombrosa!
Esta no es una gracia barata, sino libre y total para los hijos/as de Dios. La resurrección de Jesucristo desenlazo y ratifico un nuevo pacto, el ultimo pacto que se necesitaba. Porque Dios amo tanto al mundo, esta increíble creación y las almas y espíritus de toda la gente, que Jesus vino como emisario y mayordomo de la visión y la gracia de Dios.
Hablo de una “inclusión y Justicia Radical” regularmente, y es mi visión para la Conferencia de Wisconsin durante el tiempo que me queda aquí y más allá. Esta es una visión de Resurrección. Una visión donde las divisiones, odio, prejuicios y juzgamientos se ponen a “la muerte, deben morir” transformados por el Espíritu Santo de Dios en una nueva vida de amorosa aceptación, animo, perdón, misericordia, y justicia. Hay mucha gente el día de hoy que no puede entender en su mente la realidad de la verdadera gracia. San Pablo dedico mucho de su tiempo escribiendo acerca de esto; Juan Wesley construyo toda una teología al derredor de este tema; el Espíritu Santo continúa trabajando en y dentro de nosotros para que podamos entender completamente lo alto, lo profundo, lo largo, y lo ancho de su alcance. Aquellos a los cuales nosotros tratamos de excluirlos, Dios los incluye.
Hay muchos mensajes en nuestra cultura mundial que dicen “no eres lo suficientemente bueno/a, bonito/a, delgado/a, o inteligentemente suficiente, o el color de piel correcto o el lenguaje o cultura correcto. Eres feo/a, gordo/a, estúpido/a, o viejo, o muy joven.” Muchos mensajes que nos roban nuestra autoestima, y nos hacen sentir no muy bien venidos; no amados, o no queridos. Estos no son los mensajes o el corazón de Dios. El espíritu de la Resurrección permea todo, invita a todos, incluye a todos. La voluntad de Dios para su creación es aquel espacio seguro y confiado para toda la gente en todos los lugares y en todos los tiempos. Ciertamente la gente pudiera rechazar esto, podrían oponerse, y se desconectarían de esto, pero eso no es la voluntad de Dios. Y nadie tiene el derecho de quitarle a nadie esta libre y gloriosa invitación. No es nuestro lugar el decidir quien pertenece y quien no; eso le corresponde solo a Dios. Pero a través de la Resurrección de Jesucristo, los muros fueron destruidos, las hostilidades del mal fueron reducidas a la nada, y las puertas se abrieron a todo lo ancho.
