Abundant Life
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. (John 10: 10- New Revised Standard Version)
One of the passions I have in serving the Lord is planting New Ministries. In January 1st, 1993, I was appointed as a church planter to Lake Geneva. The new Hispanic congregation started to grow tremendously in numbers and leadership development; now it is a charted congregation known as La Resurreccion UMC. In 1995, with my wife Rosita and a couple of lay people from Lake Geneva, we decided to plant another new ministry, this time in the city of Delavan. It was called Delavan Hispanic Ministry, and in 1998 Rosita was appointed as Licensed Local Pastor and the congregation started to grow. They prayed together fervently about what name this ministry should be known for. After prayer, they decided that the name of the new church would be Delavan: Iglesia Vida Abundante.
Vida Abundante means Abundant Life!
Abundant life is what Jesus offers to those who are listening to him in the Gospel of John chapter 10. He describes himself as the Good Shepherd that offers his life in defense of the sheep. He was very clear that, while the thief comes only to steal, he came to give life, so that everyone who believes in him can have life abundantly! Not just a little of life, but abundantly!
Life is a gift from God; but since last year, with the pandemic and racial injustice, shootings and violence have sent us another message, a message of death and suffering. These are signs that there is a thief in our midst that is taking away that gift of life. But I have good news for you, Jesus Christ came to die for the whole world, so we can have eternal life, Vida Abundante! This is the message we need to proclaim as Jesus’s disciples.
Vida Abundante UMC throughout its ministry and service continues proclaiming the abundant life of Jesus Christ in the community.

Gracious and loving God, we give you thanks for the Gift of Life. Help us to recognize that even in the midst of difficult times, you are the giver of abundant life, in Jesus Christ we pray. Amen,

Vida Abundante
“El ladrón no viene sino para hurtar, matar y destruir; yo he venido para que tengan vida, y para que la tengan en abundancia.” (San Juan 10: 10- Versión Reina Valera 1995)
Una de las pasiones que yo tengo al servirle al Señor es la plantación de nuevos ministerios, En Enero 1 de 1993 fui asignado como plantador de una nueva Iglesia en Lake Geneva. La nueva congregación Hispana comenzó a crecer de una tremenda manera en número y desarrollo de liderato. Ahora, esta es una congregación constituida conocida con el nombre de Iglesia Metodista Unida La Resurrección. En 1995 mi esposa Rosita y unos miembros laicos de Lake Geneva decidieron plantar una nueva Iglesia, esta vez en la ciudad de Delavan. Se llamaba Ministerio Hispano de Delavan, y en 1998 Rosita fue nombrada Pastora Local, y la congregación comenzó a crecer. Después de todos orar fervientemente para buscar el nombre con el cual esta iglesia seria conocida, decidieron que la iglesia se llamaría Iglesia Vida Abundante.
¡Vida Abundante significa Abundant Life!
Vida Abundante es lo que Jesus ofrece a aquellos que lo están escuchando en el Evangelio según San Juan capítulo 10. Aquí el se describe como el Buen Pastor que ofrece su vida en defensa de sus ovejas. Jesus fue bien claro al decir que el ladrón viene para hurtar, pero que el ha venido para dar vida, para que todos los que en el crean tengan vida en abundancia. No solamente un poquito de vida, sino vida en abundancia.
La vida es un regalo de Dios, pero desde el año pasado con la pandemia, la injusticia racial, los tiroteos y la violencia, nos han enviado un mensaje diferente de muerte y sufrimiento. Estas son señales de que hay un enemigo en medio nuestro que se está robando el regalo de la vida. Pero tengo buenas noticias para ustedes, Cristo vino a morir por todo el mundo, para que tengamos vida eterna, Vida Abundante.! Este es el mensaje que debemos de proclamar como discípulos de Jesucristo.
La Iglesia Metodista Vida Abundante a través de su ministerio y servicio continúa proclamando en su comunidad la Vida Abundante que hay en Cristo Jesus.
Oración:
Dios de gracia y amor, te damos gracias por el regalo de la vida. Ayúdanos a reconocer que aun en medio de los tiempos difíciles, tu eres el dador de Vida Abundante, en Jesucristo nuestro Señor oramos, ¡Amen!
