Love, Life and Liberty
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
(2 Corinthians 3:17 New King James Version)
Today is the National Day of Prayer. This is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
I believe that prayer is so powerful! Never underestimate the power of prayer. When we are praying according to God’s will, our prayer is unstoppable. And how do we know what God’s will is? By careful study of Scripture. Jesus made this promise: "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you" (John 15:7).
We immediately go toward the latter part of that verse: Ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. We love that, as though God were some sort of genie. But that isn’t the case. We tend to forget about the first part of this verse: If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you . . . If we are walking in fellowship with God and studying the Word of God, then we will start praying according to the will of God. And then we will start seeing our prayers answered.
This year, the theme for the National Day of Prayer is Love, Life and Liberty (...where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Cor. 3:17) As we observe today as the 2021 National Day of Prayer, let us begin by thanking God for his protection and provision during the past 12 months of the coronavirus pandemic. In Love, we pray for those who have been affected by COVID-19, for those who have lost loved ones, jobs, income, and a way of life. We celebrate life as a gift from God, and we rejoice in the liberty that we experience in Jesus Christ.
Prayer:
Dear and gracious God, through this past year of challenges, we have sensed your love sustaining us, the life that you grant us each day, and the liberty that is ours through our forgiveness of sins. May the Lord continue to be our stability, strength, and hope in the days ahead. Thank you, Lord! Amen.

Amor, Vida, y Libertad

Hoy es el día Nacional de la Oración. Esta es una observación anual que se hace el primer jueves del mes de Mayo, invitando a todos los pueblos de diferentes credos y fe a orar por esta nación. Fue creado en 1952 por una resolución conjunta del congreso de los Estados Unidos y firmada como ley por el presidente Harry S. Truman.
¡Yo creo que la oración es poderosa! Nuca desestimes el poder de la oración. Cuando oramos de acuerdo a la voluntad de Dios, nadie puede parar nuestra oración. ¿Y como sabemos cual es la voluntad de Dios? A través del cuidadoso estudio de las Escrituras. Jesus hizo esta promesa: “Si ustedes permanecen en mí, y mis palabras permanecen en ustedes, pedid todo lo que deseen y les será hecho.” (Juan 15:7)
Nosotros inmediatamente vamos a la ultima parte de este versículo: “Pedid todo lo que deseen y les será hecho” Esto nos gusta, como que si Dios fuera una tipo de genio. Pero este no es el caso, tendemos a olvidar la primera parte de este versículo: “Si ustedes permanecen en mí, y mis palabras permanecen en ustedes”….si nosotros caminamos en compañerismo con Dios, estudiando la palabra de Dios, entonces vamos a comenzar a orar de acuerdo a la voluntad de Dios. Y entonces vamos a ver que nuestras oraciones son contestadas.
Este año, el tema del día Nacional de Oración es Amor, Vida, y Libertad (…donde está el Espíritu de Dios, allí hay libertad. 2 de Cor. 3:17) A medida que observamos el día de hoy, el día Nacional de la oración, comencemos dando gracias a Dios por su protección y provisión durante los últimos 12 meses de la pandemia del coronavirus. En Amor, oramos por todos los que han sido afectados por el COVID-19, por aquellos que han perdido seres queridos, trabajo, entradas económicas, y una manera de vida. Celebramos la Vida como un regalo de Dios, y nos regocijamos en la Libertad que experimentamos en Cristo Jesus.
Oración:
Dios de gracia y amor, a través de este año pasado lleno de retos, hemos sentido tu Amor, que nos ha sostenido, la Vida que tu nos regalas cada día, y la Libertad que es nuestra, por medio del perdón de nuestros pecados. Que el Señor continúe siendo nuestra estabilidad, fuerza y esperanza, en los días venideros. ¡Gracias Señor! ¡Amen!
