ICD Concludes its 2021 Session

Participants of The Institute of Congregational Development celebrated their journey in ICD 2021. 23 Participants received their certificates from Bishop Hee-Soo Jung and Director of Congregational Development Rev. Jorge L Mayorga, Tuesday, December 7th at the final gathering for the year.

Training Event: Reconciled Churches: Models of Cultural Competency

The Anti-Racism Task Force is pleased introduce the Cultural Competency Forum of the Wisconsin Annual Conference. Participation in the Forum is free of charge to Wisconsin Conference clergy and laity.
You are invited to begin a journey which will lead to cultural competency by registering for Module 1- Background and Foundational Concepts and participating in the Module’s third and final monthly training and application event: Reconciled Churches: Models of Cultural Competency.  To learn more or to register, please click here.


Faith Alive 2.0! in 2022

Faith Alive 2.0 will be offered in January and April of 2022. The goals remain the same: To help all participants to explore their faith – To offer an opportunity for learning and growth – To bring knowledgeable faculty members who can share their wisdom with those wishing to deepen their faith. This is a GREAT OPPORTUNITY for YOU to grow your faith!

These sessions will be open, via ZOOM, to all laity and clergy in the Wisconsin Conference. NOTE: Past participants of Faith Alive! are welcome to join us for Faith Alive 2.0.  All participants may sign up for one or both sessions. We do ask that anyone signing up plan to participate for the full session(s).

Lay Servant Ministries Academy

Cudahy United Methodist Church will be offering a Lay Servant Ministries Academy March 19 &20, 2022.  It will run from 9am to 3pm Saturday and 1:30 to 5:30 Sunday.
The Academy will offer 3 classes from the Lay Speaker Program:  Polity in the UMC which will be in person or zoom, and Spiritual Gifts, in person only, both on Saturday and History of the UMC in person or zoom on Sunday.  We will also have the Introduction class available during the week leading up to the Academy on zoom at times convenient to those persons who need this Introduction class.
The Academy will cost $30.00 to take 1 of the Saturday classes and the Sunday class and includes a meal both days.  There is an additional cost of $10.00 for those taking the Introduction as well.

Compassion International's "The Compassion Journey" is Coming to Lodi UMC

The interactive event immerses visitors into daily life in the developing world. It was just a single picture of a girl that stopped Peggy and then pulled her closer when she saw the picture at a table of Compassion International at a Christian education
ministry conference. Lodi United Methodist Church hosts “The Compassion Journey” event on December 10-12. The event will educate visitors about the realities of life in extreme poverty, provide an opportunity to experience elements of another culture and a chance for visitors to
discuss the experience through break-out style discussions. Read More


Inquiring Candidates Retreat - January 2022

Do you know someone who is feeling called into ministry? 
Maybe you are feeling called, but don’t know where to begin.
The Inquiring Candidates Retreat is the starting place to exploring ministry in the United Methodist Church in Wisconsin.  Participants will be offered time in community conversation, prayer and individual discernment about the call to ministry God is prompting in their lives.  At the end of the retreat participants will know the next steps to pursue ministry in the UMC in WI. 
The retreat will be at Pine Lake (https://wiumcamps.org/pine-lake/) Friday, January 21 (evening) through Sunday, January 23 (morning). We will follow all mask and social distance protocols that are in place.
Cost of this retreat is $75.00. Scholarships are available.

Africa University Update

By God’s grace, all is well with AU’s students, faculty, and staff as this semester draws to a close. The university’s rapid response team has all the recommended measures in place and is encouraging behaviors that will keep the campus community safe while we all learn more about the Omicron variant.
 
As we move through the holy season of Advent, Africa University celebrates faithful kingdom-building. Thanks to the Wisconsin Conference’s love for God and neighbor, there is so much to celebrate.  The excitement is building as Africa University approaches its 30th anniversary in March 2022.
 
Now, more than ever, Africa University is counting on Wisconsin United Methodists’ faithful investment in the future of the church and the African continent. UM Discipleship Ministries Presents Webinar:
Engaging the Community for Social Transformation

On December 16 from 11:00am - 12:00pm, United Methodist Ministries is presenting a webinar with guest speaker Dr. Anthony Everett, Executive Director of Mission Behind Bars and Beyond. The organization’s mission is to educate every community in Kentucky to welcome, support, mentor, and equip formerly incarcerated citizens with the tools needed to successfully re-enter society. Dr. Everett is a social entrepreneur, public theologian, and prophetic activist who has been involved in church planting multiethnic congregations and has served local churches from Lexington to Dallas to Cleveland, while working for social transformation.

Your Ministry of Planning and Leading Worship

Would you like to prepare to do “pulpit supply” or assist in leading worship with your pastor? This course runs Jan. 10- Feb. 4, 2022 and will focus on basic understandings of worship and gaining skills for leading worship. It fulfills requirements for “Leading Worship” and “Planning Worship” needed for Lay Speaker Certification. The course will explore:
