2021 Statistical Reporting deadline is approaching – February 28.

Thank you to the 29% of churches who have already completed and submitted their 2021 statistical reports.  We understand the work that goes into these and your time is appreciated.  Thank you also to the 27% who have started.  We encourage you to complete the report by 2/21 – a week ahead of the deadline.   That leaves 44% who have not started the reports yet.  We encourage you to start soon and contact us with any questions  - 608-837-7320 or by e-mail to statistics.wisconsinumc@gmail.com

A few reminders:

  1. We know the pastor name is wrong on many of the churches.  Don’t worry about this – we have the correct names in our main database
  2. Here is the link to the Finance web page with log in info, a 30 minute video, and the slides from our training  Statistical Reporting
  3. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just needs to be reasonably correct!  Don’t fret, feel free to call us.
  4. Lines 28-36 are the amounts that you have sent to the Conference. Since we have that information we will fill that out for you. You don't need to enter any data on these lines.

Pastor Lynne Hines-Levy invited to give opening prayer

On January 25th, Cudahy and Summerfield UM churches were honored to have their pastor, Lynne Hines-Levy invited to give the opening prayer for the Wisconsin House of Representatives.  Representative Chris Sinicki who is a great friend to Cudahy and their Safe Haven Center, invited Pastor Lynne to give the opening prayer.  Lynne is one of only 6 women to be honored this way and, as far as Ms. Sinicki is aware, the first United Methodist.
Pastor Hines-Levy's prayer, which invited the members to join her in the tradition of their faith family, called for all representatives to work for peace, justice, and full representation of all persons in our state.
Pastor Hines-Levy was praised by many of the representatives for her inclusion of all faiths and her passion for equity and justice for all our citizens.

Wauwatosa Ave UMC Jazz Sunday Celebrates 17th Year on February 27th

Sunday February 27th, One All-Church Community Service at 10:30

The first WAUMC Jazz Sunday Service was celebrated in 2005. One of the earliest references made to the church preparing for Lent through a musical Jazz celebration dates back to 1982. Found in the bulletin archives, it advertises a Fat Tuesday Pancake Dinner presented by the Boy Scouts, with music provided by the Don Nedobeck Dixieland Trio.  Over the years, the choirs and instrumentalists have shared all kinds of music from the genre as part of this special Sunday service in preparation for Lent. This year will be no different.  Our service will feature music from Art Blakey and the Messengers, the Louis Armstrong Hot 5, and musical prodigy jazz artist Grace Kelly.  We hope the special music arrangements, hymn-singing and interpretation of the morning scripture will prepare your “Walk with Jesus” for Lent. Join us for the music, share in our worship, and leave inspired for the journey. "The light of Jesus will indeed shine brightly!" says  Tim Karth, director of the praise team and coordinator for the special service, "Come and be prepared to experience the Transfiguration as never before...step into your Lenten journey and be transformed!"

A Special Sunday of Giving at Parkview

On Sunday, January 30 the people of Parkview and the community of Turtle Lake brought in their final contributions to the annual clothing collection for our local schools. We call it the "Undie Sundays of January.". We collected dozens of pairs of socks, underwear, and other clothing items to give to the teachers of Turtle Lake and Clayton Elementary Schools to have on hand when and if their students ever need fresh and clean clothes during the school day.

Also during worship, our "Little Disciples" carried around metal coffee cans so the coin donations toward the Motorcycles for Bolivia fund would ring loud and clear as the congregation made a "noisy offering" toward this mission. In total we collected $139 on that Sunday to help purchase these vehicles for evangelism, social service, and other church needs among our siblings in Christ in Bolivia.
