On April 3, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, WAUMC hosted a prayer vigil for the people of Ukraine. Scripture and prayer was offered every 20 minutes, people in attendance had the opportunity to light a candle, and a free will offering was collected for the United Methodist Committee on Relief’s humanitarian response in Ukraine. A final prayer in the church courtyard was offered at 6:50pm. Pastor Janis Ginters of the Milwaukee Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Holy Trinity Church was with us in prayer.
Like so many people around the world, members of our congregation have been praying for the people of Ukraine following the invasion of their nation. For several years, our congregation has been praying to be a beacon of God’s love and power in this community and around the world. It is in this spirit that we welcomed the community and be in prayer for our friends in Ukraine together. We continue to pray for peace and justice for our sisters and brothers in Ukraine.
