Onalaska UMC youth made their Zoom Christmas party special with a quarantine re-make of the classic movie Home Alone.
Youth director Paul Bratsch wrote an abbreviated script with staging directions. Students and church leaders each took small parts which they recorded at home. The individual videos were edited to make a 15-minute spoof of the original movie, complete with special effects. Several roles, such as Kevin, who is famously left home alone, were played by multiple people.
The students were excited to see the final result, which premiered on the church’s YouTube channel during the last youth group meeting of 2020.
"Keeping kids connected to church when they’re on Zoom all day for school is a challenge," said Pastor Park Hunter. "Kudos to our youth leaders for being creative and bringing the fun right now. We could all use something to chuckle about right now."
The OUMC Home Alone movie can be watched on YouTube.
