New Berlin Woman Presented Award for Missionary Work

Judy Brunn presented 2020 Thelma Gregg AwardJudy Bruun, a former member of Oak Creek Community United Methodist currently residing in New Berlin, has been chosen as the 2020 recipient of the Thelma Gregg Award.

As a lay person actively and creatively engaged in local, Conference and global mission work through the Advance, Judy has been involved in flood recovery work and has traveled to Peru on numerous occasions where she lived for months at a time working with and developing relationships with the Peruvian people on behalf of the United Methodist Church.  Judy developed a relationship between the Oak Creek CUMC and Peru by organizing countless Volunteer in Mission trips to Peru.

Judy also served as a leader in Volunteers in Missions training, thus empowering others to lead mission trips. Due to health issues Judy no longer organizes and leads VIM trips to Peru.  Others, who Judy has led and taught, are now leading those trips.  Currently Judy devotes her time to the Ronald McDonald House.

The Thelma Gregg Award comes with a monetary gift to be given to the recipient’s favored Advance Project.  After much consideration Judy decided to give that gift to the UMCOR COVID – 19 Fund, rather than a favored Peruvian project because she felt the COVID – 19 Fund was in greater need at this time.

Congratulations to Judy Bruun for receiving this award.  If there is a member of your church who is actively and creatively engaged in local, Conference and global mission work through the Advance, please contact Mary Balson, Mission Motivation Committee Chair at mbalson43@gmail.com and she will send you an application for the Thelma Gregg Award.
