The Meals Outreach Ministry, or M.O.M. (aka Community Dinners) of Faith United Methodist Church was started years ago by Bonnie Thoorsell, as a way to help address hunger issues that were largely hidden in the Superior community, as well as a way to build relationships within our community. Through Faith United Methodist Church, Bonnie Thoorsell orchestrated free meals each Sunday evening, at 4 p.m., to accommodate the bus schedule. When Bonnie unexpectedly died last year, Katie Hoyt eventually took up the reigns.
When COVID hit, the meals stopped, due to the need to physically distance, and the meals were held in the fellowship hall. This fall, M.O.M. launched the new “drive up meal” ministry where meals are taken out to the cars that drive by the church! The program was recently profiled by WDIO News Duluth.
