A Call to Prayer and Support for the People of Waukesha

Greetings in the hope we have in Christ.

Today I invite our siblings in Christ to a time of prayer for the people of Waukesha. May we remember in prayer those who grieve, those recovering,  community leaders, our responder community, and the spiritual leadership of our congregations, as well as our ecumenical and interfaith partners. We lift parents and teachers and all who plant seeds of meaning in the face of tragedy. These are days to increase the neighborliness of the gospel as we learn more details of the tragedy that took place during their Christmas parade. As families gather this week,  may prayers at our table give thanks for our God and seek the Shalom for which we wait.

We give thanks for the way clergy and congregations in Waukesha have responded to plan a vigil, offer support in their churches, and partner with grief support being offered in the non-profit community. If you would like to give a financial gift, the Waukesha County Community Foundation, the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County have joined together to create the “United for Waukesha Community Fund.” This fund will support the needs of the families impacted from Sunday’s tragic incident at the annual Waukesha Christmas Parade. www.waukeshafoundation.org/parade.

Thank you.

In the hope of Christ.
