Bishop Announces Conference Retirements

Bishop Hee-Soo Jung is announcing that two valued long-time members of our Conference staff, Sherry Malone and Katie Hoeppner, plan to retire at the end of October.

"We are so grateful for their faithful, fruitful, and generous service," says Bishop Jung. "Both Sherry and Katie have influenced and touched the lives and ministry of United Methodists throughout the Conference. They will be deeply missed. We wish you well and send you on to new adventures in your retirements. God’s blessing go with you, dear Sherry and Katie."

Conference Personnel Chair Jenny Arneson offered her gratitude on behalf of the committee for their decades of faithfulness to the Wisconsin Conference. "Together they have offered 55 years of ministry among us; serving not only the conference, but also our local churches, pastors and laity," said Arneson. "We wish them continued blessings in retirement and hope they both look back on their years of service in the Conference knowing that they made a difference."

Sherry Malone is retiring after 25 years of service as District Administrator. She has served with many district superintendents, bishops and other people across the years. She is the person you speak with if you contact the district offices for churches in the South West (and all the former names of that area) and North East Districts. Sherry is caring, careful, detail-managing, creative, compassionate, and efficient. Most importantly, she has been a friend and colleague whom we value and appreciate. Thank you!

Katie Hoeppner is retiring as Service Department Manager, after 30 years of service and working with over 130 staff. Among many duties, Katie has handled and organized our printing and mailing services, managed the Conference Center building, and entered data for all our mailing lists and databases. Katie has cared for Conference staff by circulating cards for different occasions and by creating special farewell celebrations as staff have moved to other positions. Her artistry and creativity are particularly on display through her seasonal decorations on her office door. Thank you!

If you wish to offer your thanks to Sherry and Katie, we have the following Kudoboard (message board) set up so you can post your messages, pictures and even videos. Just click on the link for either Sherry or Katie here, then click on the button which says “+add to board” and you can post whatever you choose.
