The Disaster Emergency Response Team are those that, with an invitation, respond to help clean up after a natural disaster. They “muck & gut”/remove wet debris and drywall after a flood, pick things up after a tornado, etc. The next training will be at Madison: Bethany UMC on October 23 from 8am – 4pm.
You will learn the purpose of the Disaster Emergency Response Team, safety, procedure, what to say and, more importantly, what NOT to say to survivors.
Class is taught by an UMCOR certified trainer. Once the class and background checks have been completed you will be eligible to participate in the Disaster Emergency Response Team opportunities. We have, unfortunately, had several opportunities right here in Wisconsin during the past year. When the invitation is extended, there are Disaster Emergency Response Team opportunities in other parts of the nation.
Cost is $25.00, includes background check and lunch. Attendees must be 18 years old.
