Suamico UMC completed the building project of a new sanctuary and had a Celebration Service on Sunday, June 9th. NE District Superintendent, Rev. Sue D’Alessio, and her successor to be, Rev. Kate Jones, along with many former pastors and Diane Folmer of the Wisconsin Foundation joined the SUMC congregation at the celebration.
The service was composed of litanies, choir music, handbell choir, Building Committee chairperson’s address, Treasurer’s report, review of the history of Suamico church, former pastor’s sharing of fond memories, slideshow of the building project, dissolution of the Building Committee and ending with a benediction by Rev. Randy Richter. Fellowship with cake and refreshments followed in the Fellowship Hall.
The stained glass from the old sanctuary was removed and used to form a new stained glass cross within an 18 foot tall wooden cross surround made by church members, Ken Voelz and Rich Schroeder.
