United Methodist Scholarships: Eligibility Requirements

  • United Methodist scholarships are awarded to selected students who have been active, full members of The United Methodist Church for at least one full year.
  • Students must have maintained a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Priority will be given to those students who demonstrate financial need.
  • The scholarship is renewable for one year and the application deadline is mid-February.

Religious Vocation Scholarships: Eligibility Requirements

  • Religious vocations scholarships are awarded to students who intend to prepare for some form of ministry or employment in a church or religious society.
  • A letter of recommendation is required from the religious leader of a group in which the student is an active participant.
  • The scholarship is renewable. The application deadline is mid-February.

Bockholdt Speech- Communication Scholarships: Eligibility Requirements

  • Scholarships up to $1500 are awarded to students in the communication field.
  • Eligible students must have a 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale or rank in the top one-third of the class.
  • First consideration is given to students intending to major in the discipline.

Fine Arts Scholarships: Eligibility Requirements

  • Talent scholarships in band, choir, theatre, forensics, and art are available.
  • These are not based on financial need and are renewable with consent of the department chair.
  • Auditions or portfolio submission will take place between January 1 and mid-February.

Scholarships For Children of United Methodist Pastors

  • Dependents of United Methodist pastors will receive a $3000 scholarship based on a parent’s current service in a United Methodist church.
  • The scholarship is renewable and the application must be submitted by March 1.

North Central College Grant: Eligibility Requirements

  • Students must demonstrate a financial need.

Presidential Scholarships: Purpose

The prestigious Presidential Scholarship Program awards over 100 scholarships, ranging from $3000 to $15,500 per year.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Rank in the top 10% of your high school class and receive a 24-36 on the ACT or 1090-1600 on the SAT OR
  • Rank in the top 20% of your high school class and receive a 26-36 on the ACT or 1160-1600 on the SAT OR
  • Rank in the top 30% of your high school class and receive a 29 or above on the ACT or 1270 or above on the SAT

All valedictorians with a 24 or above on the ACT or a 1096 or above on the SAT will receive a minimum scholarship of $10,000 per year with the opportunity to compete for higher amounts. Presidential scholarships are renewable for three academic years if GPA requirements are maintained. Financial need is not used to determine awards.

Application Procedure:

Must apply for admission prior to February 1 and attend a Scholarship program.

National Merit Finalist Scholarships: Eligibility Requirements

  • North Central College offers three-quarter tuition scholarships to National Merit finalists.
  • Students may compete for up to $15,500 annually through the Presidential Scholarships competition.

Scholarships For Majors In Education: Eligibility Requirements

  • The Jeanene Yule for Excellence in Teacher Education, Goodwin Scholarship for Prospective Teachers, and John J. Bohlander Scholarships are available to incoming freshmen and continuing students who intend to teach.
  • A written essay, two letters of recommendation, and an interview are required.
  • Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Renewal applications are considered.

Honor/Merit Scholarships: Eligibility Requirements

  • Rank in the top 10% of your high school class and receive a 20-23 on the ACT or 930-1080 on the SAT OR
  • Rank in the top 20% of your high school class and receive a 22-23 on the ACT or 1010-1080 on the SAT OR
  • Rank in the top 50% of your high school class and receive a 24 or above on the ACT or 1090 or above on the SAT
  • Honor/Merit Scholarships are renewable for three academic years if GPA requirements are maintained.
  • Financial need is not used to determine awards.
