The Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry provides scholarship fund to aid United Methodist students from the State of Wisconsin to attend a United Methodist college or university. Ten percent of the Student Day Offering in the Wisconsin Annual Conference is used to fund the scholarship. Scholarship monies will be provided by the beginning of the fall semester.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicant must be a member of the United Methodist Church in the Wisconsin Conference.
  • The scholarship is open to high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors planning to be a full-time student in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree.
  • The scholarship is awarded to United Methodist students who are attending institutions of higher education recognized as United Methodist by the University Senate. It is not required that the institution be within the boundaries of the Wisconsin Annual Conference.
  • Not based on financial need. Heaviest consideration will be given to the applicant’s service to the church and academic standing. The quality of the written presentation will be considered indicative of the applicant’s academic ability.
  • Attending a (United Methodist) college of his/her own choice.
  • Must have at least a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale to qualify.

Application Procedure

  • Letter of application, including a paragraph on service given to the Wisconsin Conference, district and/or local church; future plans and college the student plans on attending; character traits that make him/her a good candidate; participation in community and school activities and awards.
  • Including mailing address.
  • Include transcript for the last semester completed.
  • Three written recommendations, one of which shall be from the applicant’s local church pastor.
