Purpose

Created to assist young persons of Hispanic-American, Asian-American, Native American, Alaskan Indian, or Pacific Islander origin to prepare them to give leadership in the United Methodist Church, in higher education, and in the HANA communities.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Born of Hispanic, Asian, Native American, Alaskan Indian, or Pacific Islander parentage (at least one parent).
  • An active, full member of the United Methodist Church for at least three years prior to application.
  • GPA of 2.85+
  • A citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.
  • Ability to identify with his/her particular ethnic community.
  • Able to verify academic ability.
  • Able to demonstrate financial need.
  • Must be a full-time college junior, senior, or graduate student in an accredited educational institution in the U.S.

Application Procedure

  • Obtain application from the Office of Loans and Scholarships between January 1 and March 15 (see below)
  • Submit application and all supporting documents no later than April 1
  • Reapply for each academic year.
