Lay Servant Ministries
Lay Servant Ministries
If you are looking for information regarding Lay Servant Ministries, you’ve hit on the right place! Our District Directors of Lay Servant Ministries get very excited when we see others also getting excited about serving God through this program.
Lay Servant Ministries is a win-win-win situation:
- Servants, through training, learn more about their Lord and Savior, and draw closer to the heart of their Lord. LSM courses equip our laity with the tools and experience they need to be effective in Leading, Caring, and Communicating.
- Churches gain a valuable asset to their organization by having an in-house Lay Servant or Lay Speaker.
- Pastors also gain a resource that provides aid and assistance for their ministry.
Every aspect of the LSM program is pleasing to our Heavenly Father. It is our hope that you will seriously consider LSM certification as a part of your faith journey.
While Certified Lay Speakers have been an active program in United Methodism for decades, the 2012 Book of Discipline made many changes to the certification process and required classes. If you were certified as a Lay Speaker prior to 2012, we encourage you to explore our resources, if you are not yet familiar with the new requirements.
Lay Servant Ministries includes several different certifications with required courses and approval processes. Click the links below for more information about each of these tracks:
Upcoming course offerings for Lay Servant Ministries courses can be found on our Upcoming Trainings page. If you are interested in teaching an LSM course, visit How to Plan LSM Trainings for information on planning and promoting your course.
