Hurricane Dorian Disaster Response

Hurricane Dorian’s hit to the Bahamas has been severe. Here are a few ways to support the relief effort.

Donate Funds

UMCOR has provided a solidarity grant to Bahamas Methodist Habitat, the Disaster Ministry of the Bahamas Conference of the United Methodist Church. This grant provides immediate, emergency short term funding to address the basic human needs of those affected by this catastrophic storm. Your church can help by making a donation to Advance 982450 UMCOR International Disaster Response. To support the United States disaster response, make a donation to Advance 901670 UMCOR US Disaster Response

Donate Supplies

Midwest Mission Distribution Center has been asked by their partner Food for the Poor to help in the disaster response. They are asking for shovels, blankets, flashlights with batteries, and first aid kits. If you are able to donate, please have the items to Winding Rivers UMC in New Lisbon by Sunday, September 22. From there, the items will be delivered to MMDC on September 23.

Wisconsin Council of Churches Office Relocation

The Wisconsin Council of Churches (WCC) will be relocating at the end of September to an office space in Madison. After many years in our Conference Center, they are making some strategic decisions about their ministry. The Council’s vision includes having its staff get out in the field more often and connecting with churches in person. Needing less square footage, they will be moving to a smaller office, with proximity to the state capitol and the university to work more easily with interns. The Council’s new address is 30 W. Mifflin Street, Suite 602, Madison, WI 53703. The phone number will remain the same (608)837-3108 and the partnership with the Wisconsin Annual Conference will continue for years to come.
