Sam Royappa to Become Lead Pastor at West Allis: First UMC

Bishop Hee-Soo Jung and the cabinet of the Wisconsin Conference are pleased to announce the appointment of Sam Royappa to First UMC in West Allis, beginning July 1.  Sam has been a cornerstone leader of the Wisconsin Conference, serving for eight years as District Superintendent and for four years as the Director of Connectional Ministries. Read More

Bishops Offer Pastoral Word; Make Key Decisions at May 2019 Meeting

The Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church completed its May 2019 meeting held outside Chicago with a pastoral and prophetic word in response to the decisions of the Special Session and the codification of some of those decisions in the Book of Discipline. With more people on the move globally than ever before, the Council of Bishops is urging extra support for The United Methodist Church's work with migrants. The kind of support bishops have in mind will require approval from General Conference and other church decision-makers. Read story
 

Hearing Set For Church's Sanctuary Guest

An immigration hearing for a Connecticut man who has lived in sanctuary at First and Summerfield United Methodist Church in New Haven since December 2017 is set for May 14 at the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals. Nelson Pinos, a native of Ecuador who has lived in the U.S. for nearly 30 years, has three children who are U.S. citizens. Read story

The Methodist Social Creed, predecessor to the Social Principles, originated over a century ago to express concern about the exploitation of millions of workers. The Social Principles urge United Methodists to make a difference and to live differently in the world. Reminders

Golden Cross Sunday

This is a special offering to support our Health and Welfare Ministries. If your church did not celebrate on the official date of May 12, you are welcome to celebrate it on another Sunday of your choice. All churches should have received a mailing with a letter from Bishop Jung and Golden Cross offering envelopes. Health and Welfare Ministries have created a series of 4 videos that can be used throughout May so your congregation can learn about the ministries they are supporting with their Golden Cross contributions. Watch the videos here.
