Prayers for Sun Prairie Community

The explosion was caused by an independent contractor hitting a natural gas main. An evacuation was implemented within a half-mile radius of the explosion. One firefighter, Cory Barr, was killed and several others were injured. Please keep in prayer Cory Barr and his family, those who were hurt, as well as those who were evacuated. Wisconsin Launches New Ministry: Reedsburg: Casa de Oración

The Wisconsin Conference is proud to have so many new ministries in our state. One of these new ministries is Reedsburg: Casa de Oración. The ministry has approximately 40 members who gather together each week. Rev. Procopio Arellano spoke about the impact the ministry has on the community. They get together to celebrate special occasions, such as Baptisms and weddings, but also, “we help people in the community by providing transportation to the hospitals, clinics, and to the Mexican consulate.” He continued, “I want to express my gratitude, and give thanks to the English speaking United Methodist Church of Reedsburg for their support, and also to the authorities of the Wisconsin Annual Conference.” Watch the full video here. To help support the birthing of future new ministries, donate now.

A Congregation Committed to Connectional Giving: La Farge UMC

Pastor Eileen Kuehnl writes: “In October of 2017, just four days after formally celebrating our 150th Anniversary, the La Farge UMC received a check in the mail. It was a gift of money that will bless our church’s ministry for years to come. Back in the spring, we had received notification that the church had been named in the will of Barbara Funnell, a retired kindergarten teacher who had grown up in La Farge, and whose parents had remained members of the church until their deaths. We didn’t expect to receive a lot of money, so we were very surprised and overjoyed when we saw a check that totaled more than $100,000!
