Ethnic Local Church Concerns

Ethnic singers at a Wisconsin Conference UMC eventThe Ethnic Local Church Concerns Committee seeks to advocate for, encourage and empower the local ethnic ministries and leaders throughout the Wisconsin Conference of The United Methodist Church. The Committee provides funding to ethnic churches for Summer Developer ministries, and scholarships to ethnic pastors for the advanced course of study in seminary and for ministry preparation in college.

The Ethnic Local Church Concerns Committee may consist of one representative each from the Cabinet, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, Youth Ministries Council, Commission on the Status and Role of Women, Conference Strategy Board, Board of Higher Education and Student Ministry, Board of Church and Society, and the Commission on Religion and Race. The goal is to also have each of the following caucuses name three representatives: Korean, Hmong, Hispanic/Latino, Native American and Black United Methodists for Church Renewal. Ideally, the Committee will also include seven at-large members representing ethnic local churches in consultation with the Conference Nominations Committee.

The Summer Developer Program

The Ethnic Local Church Concerns Developers Program allows talented and interested ethnic persons to participate in the life and ministry of the local church, outreach programs, summer programs, and Christian education programs for the purpose of developing ethnic leadership. It can provide an in-the-field experience for anyone considering any ministry. Persons under appointment may not serve as a developer.

We greatly appreciate the donations we have received in the past for the Summer Developers program and hope you will consider a donation for this year. If you collect an offering at your church for Summer Developers, please have your treasurer send it with your monthly remittances. We need your help!
