The Wisconsin Conference is proud to have so many new ministries in our state. One of these new ministries is Milwaukee: Urban Poiema Church. Pastor Juan Garay explained how the church started in the spring of 2015 at a bar and grill in Milwaukee. “It started with the Holy Spirit inspired thought that Milwaukee needs a movement of hope,” he said.

After several moves, they landed in the north-west side of Milwaukee when they took over the Aldersgate UMC building. They opened the doors of their new church in October 2017 with over 130 people in attendance on that first day. He said, “We have been reaching the community, and as a result of that, we are on our way of becoming a multicultural, multi-generational, and multilingual ministry.”
