Join Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church to help establish a library for the Growing Tree Daycare of the United Methodist Children’s Services (UMCS) in Milwaukee. The Growing Tree Children’s Center is a three-star, state licensed facility that offers quality childcare, age-appropriate activities, and early literacy programming. It also offers programs for school aged children. Their vision is to have books that can be borrowed from the daycare library, as well as books that the children can keep.

Members of WAUMC have painted the walls in the new library, and are in the process of installing shelving. Now they need books! They need new and like-new books for infants through elementary aged children.

There are three ways you can help:

  • Buy a book from their Amazon Wish List. Make sure to choose shipping to the gift recipient.
  • Donate new or like-new books: Contact church administrator Jodie Hunt at 414-453-0700 to make arrangements to bring them to Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church.
  • Donate money: Make the check payable to WAUMC with a note: UMCS library, and mail it to Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist Church, 1529 Wauwatosa Ave., Wauwatosa, WI 53213.

According to the National Commission on Reading, the single most significant factor influencing a child’s early educational success is an introduction to books and being read to at home prior to beginning school. Together we can make a difference!
