The Wisconsin Conference has 14 Health and Welfare Ministries serving persons of all faiths and races as an outreach of The United Methodist Church. The Ministries group is divided into three categories: Family and Children’s Services, Senior and Disability Service, and Health Services. These ministries provide invaluable services to their communities, and they need your support. To donate to a specific ministry, send your donation to the Wisconsin Conference UMC Treasurer at 750 Windsor Street, Sun Prairie, WI 53590, and designate the Fund Number that you want to support. For more information, visit the Health and Welfare Ministries page.

Ministries in the Family and Children’s Services category provide services predominately for the poor, and focus on crisis intervention, rebuilding lives, and strengthening families. One of these invaluable ministries is Harbor House Crisis Shelters in Superior, WI. Their mission is to provide hospitable shelter, transitional living, and emergency services for homeless single women and families. Their value statements are: “mercy triumphs over judgement,” James 2:13; and “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, as long as ever you can,” John Wesley.

Harbor House Crisis Shelters is committed to ending homelessness by providing children’s programming and direct services for homeless single women and families, conducting public education and analysis of model programs and practices that create permanent housing opportunities, and shaping policies to prevent future homelessness. They regularly post updates to the Harbor House Facebook page about the shelter, fundraisers, and homelessness in general. They have received many donations for Christmas, and recently posted, “It is beginning to look like Christmas in our offices. Through the generosity of the Twin Ports (and even further), we will have gifts for everyone in the shelter and in transitional. We also have some gifts for folks that we know are having a difficult time that have been in our program. THANK YOU!”

To support Harbor House, designate Fund No. 7788 on your donation.
