A pastor who was outed and forced out of First United Methodist Church in Kenosha 35 years ago was welcomed back with open hearts Saturday, February 4 for a weekend of reconciliation. The Rev. Kevin Johnson offered his experiences dealing with grief and despair after his ouster in 1981 with the Kenosha congregation. Johnson, 63, and his husband, Michael Shear, traveled from Palm Springs, California, to Kenosha for the festivities. Sunday morning, he preached to the congregation. “I have no desire to impugn anyone else anymore,” Johnson said.
