For over 13 years, United Methodists from Wisconsin have been supporting the equipping and training of pastors and other Christian leaders in the Mbale region of Uganda. In September 2016, Bishop Nelson Wesamoyo joined Pastor Laverne Larson in sharing the story of how this annual two-week equipping conference has now blossomed into a seminary. Classes for the Green Pasture School of Theology started in September 2015 and will graduate their first students May of 2017, just days before the next Equipping Conference. In order to receive government accreditation for the seminary, a building must first be built according to the prescribed specifications and supplied with a proper library and computer laboratory. The good news about this seminary is that once the building is built and paid for, it will be self-sustaining. Thanks to the generous contributions of WI United Methodists and other supporters, the seminary broke ground on January 4th! Students at the nearby Green Pasture Secondary and Vocational School are making practical use of their education and are making the bricks and starting construction. Even Bishop Wesamoyo is helping with digging the foundation, as seen in the picture. But the job is not over yet! More prayers and financial support are needed. Please make your checks payable to the WI Annual Conference with “Fund  #7945 Seminary” in the memo line and mail to the Conference Treasurer, 750 Windsor St., Sun Prairie, WI, 53590.
