Bishop Hee-Soo Jung announced today that Rev Stephen J Polster, the Assistant to the Bishop for the Wisconsin Conference UMC, will retire June 30, 2015. Rev Polster has served as Assistant to the Bishop since July 1, 2004. Prior to serving as Assistant to the Bishop, he served as District Superintendent for the Winnebago District from 1998-2004. Bishop Jung said, “Steve has been a great colleague in my ministry and excellent servant leader. He has dedicated his life fully to kingdom ministry through the United Methodist Church. I am grateful for his leadership, especially in my transition to Wisconsin as a bishop, which he helped make easy and efficient.” Before his appointment as District Superintendent and then Assistant to the Bishop, Rev Polster served as pastor in the Wisconsin Conference at DeSoto, Redmound, Retreat (1975-1978), New Hope Larger Parish--Union Grove area (1978-1986), Fennimore (1986-1990), and Beaver Dam: Trinity (1990-1998). Bishop Jung expects that the appointment of a new Assistant to the Bishop will be announced in January of 2015.
