Dozens of United Methodist churches across our conference have responded to the massive flooding across the state. The Wisconsin Conference has received a $10,000 solidarity grant from the United Methodist Committee on Relief, with a commitment of more to follow. WUMC Disaster Response has requested 4,032 flood buckets from MMDC and they are in the process of being delivered. 2,556 flood buckets will be delivered to the Sauk County Emergency Management as well as 2016 personal hygiene kits. Another 540 will be delivered to Hartford UMC, and the remaining 936 will be delivered to BMZ UMC and Soldiers Grove which will also be distributed to Viola and Gays Mills areas.

Conference Disaster Coordinators Bud Budzinski and Lynette Jordan have been doing a remarkable job supervising our efforts, and Bruce Koch is working with Volunteers in Mission (VIM) to coordinate work teams. If you are interested in learning more about either team and who to contact to get involved, visit our Wisconsin Conference Disaster Response and Volunteers in Mission pages.

The Emergency Response Team (ERT) is also holding a training this Friday, September 7th for participants to be trained/certified (with a background check) to be part of the team and be able to respond to the flooding. Register here by Thursday, September 6th at noon!
