Labor Day weekend, Renee Thomas of Fennimore United Methodist Church, coordinated, organized and oversaw the filling of a semi-trailer of food and supplies to be taken to Texas to assist in the aid of Hurricane victims. With VERY short notice (Friday afternoon) on a holiday weekend, the word spread quickly what was happening, and the truck needed to leave early Wednesday morning. The goal was met with an overwhelming amount of support, donations and love packed to leave for Texas. A member of the church who is a semi-driver and his wife drove the trailer to Gateway Church in Kountze, Texas. God was truly at work for the entire thing.

According to Thomas, "Starting from the idea to do it, to the availability of the truck, to publicizing it, to the connection in Texas--all were better and more than we could have ever expected." Working with the national guard, the organizers were able to take supplies to communities in the south that previously couldn't receive any. Remaining supplies were going to be sent to Florida along with a crew from Kountze, TX the following week for hurricane relief there. Thomas said, “Let God use you, even if you don't think it’s possible, anything is possible with God.”
