This past weekend, the North Central Jurisdictional Hispanic United Methodist Men’s (UMM) Retreat was held at Monona: El Libertador United Methodist Church. After a petition by the UMM Coordinator of the Hispanic Caucus of the Wisconsin Conference, the church El Libertador UMC whose pastor is Estrella Benítez, was chosen for its centrality and space for this event. Pastor Carlos Sandoval said, “It was a great blessing to share with men from Indiana, Illinois, Ohio and Wisconsin.”

Sandoval explained, The retreat began Friday with a worship service and gratitude to our Heavenly Father for allowing us to arrive at that place and for the time we would to be together during those days. During this time together, pastors Jaime Nolla from Wisconsin and Sergio Reyes from Fort Wayne Indiana shared several sessions with the following topics: "The Priest of My Home," "A Priest with My Wife and Children," "Priesthood in My Finances," "Priesthood in My Work," "My Priesthood in My Church," and ended with the last session, "Taking My Priesthood." Sandoval said, The titles of the themes reflected the call of God to every man in his home, with the family and in his surroundings. It was a time of growth and communion with all the men that were in attendance. He said, “In addition, during this time we kept in prayer for our brothers from Houston TX for the situation they are going through. It was glorious to see so many men united in the same feeling and with the same purpose. God is good and there is always one for all who seek Him. We give thanks to the Hispanic Caucus North Central Jurisdiction, the pastors who accompanied us and those who in one way or another had to do with the planning of this great activity.” View Spanish version of article here.
