Toni Mattie, 11, had a birthday in September, and instead of asking for her own presents, she asked her friends to pick out gifts that the homeless could enjoy. Toni decided to save these presents until December and donate them to Alban’s House, a homeless shelter and part of the Washburn County Homeless Coalition. Toni and her grandmother contacted Mary Shepherd at Spooner Methodist Church. Shepherd is the manager of Alban’s House and was thrilled with the idea of Christmas presents that the residents needed and could use. When Toni and Huffer delivered the presents to United Methodist Church in Spooner, Shepherd was clearly impressed and touched by the kindness. Click here for the full story from the Spooner Advocate.
