In the wake of last month's violent protests near Sherman Park, Milwaukee officials recently announced a new initiative in the neighborhood to teach construction job training skills through the deconstruction of vacant houses on the city's north side. The city will train unemployed residents of the Sherman Park neighborhood for construction jobs by starting them on crews to disassemble vacant city-owned houses, Mayor Tom Barrett said.
