Reaching Our New, Young, Diverse Neighbors
Rev. Dr. Bener Agtarap, Associate General Secretary/Executive Director, General Board of Discipleship Ministries
Did you know that there were 1,059 new faith communities started by United Methodists in the United States from 2008-2016? Accordingly, these new churches had almost 100,000 people in average worship attendance last year. Want to help us reach the next 100,000? In this interactive session, participants will learn how to reach new, young, and diverse people in their neighborhoods with the love of Jesus, and how to equip and deploy church people to lead or get involved in making disciples of Jesus Christ through intentional strategy of creating new ministries, new faith communities, and new churches.
Missional Church Consultation Triad Training
Rev. Dr. Joseph Bishman, Missional Church Consultation Initiative Consultant
In this training event you will learn how to create a system for utilizing multiple sequential events for a collaborative initiative of witness, connection, and to raise the probability of new persons who attend to return. Participants will learn to mobilize multiple resources of the congregation into a focused initiative of invitation that prepares leaders and teams for greater more effective initiatives into the community. Those in the training will learn the key stages of a Triad:  • The Splash • Invite them back • The Main Event .
Teams/leaders attending will leave with a basic sketch of what a Triad could look like in the local church.
Ministry with the Poor: Justice & Mercy Ministries
Rev. Barb Certa-Werner, Executive Director/Founder, Harbor House Crisis Shelters, Superior Rev. Tina Itson, Director of Development, United Methodist Children’s Services, Milwaukee
Join us for an interactive mini Poverty Simulation that may be replicated for the local church.  Participants will have a better understanding of how poverty affects communities and solutions congregations can use. You will also learn more about Harbor House Crisis Shelters in Superior and United Methodist Children's Services in Milwaukee and how these ministries create pathways for hope.
Location - St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 600 Wilshire Boulevard, Stevens Point, WI 54481
