We all want to be a better "Caring Minister." One of the most profound human experiences is when God has chosen to use us to help and bless another person. God can use us any time and any place, if we are willing to be used. Being willing is good; being prepared to be used is far better. "Caring Ministry" is intentional. There are some basic principles and practices that can make us more effective. We will learn and grow into more effective ministers of Jesus Christ.

April 21 - "Making Jesus Present Through Effective Listening"

  • We listen for Feelings, Content and Meaning;
  • Prayer with another is a response to what we have heard through effective listening; and
  • Integrity and Trust requires clear boundaries.

April 28 - Being a Christian Companion means Process not Problem Solving

  • We don't fix peoples’ problems, we walk alongside them;
  • Helping others to recognize personal dignity in themselves and others; and
  • Recognizing Dysfunction, Codependency, and the need for Professional Care.

May 5 - This is "Our Story" (The Paschal Mystery / Death and Resurrection)

  • The many faces of grief and loss;
  • The Christian Life prepares us for a Christian Death;
  • Life, Hope and Peace; and
  • Our God is always faithful.

May 12 - Church, Community and Communion

  • "We are here for you";
  • Healthy choices; and
  • Being a United Methodist.

Cost: $10 for all four sessions OR $3 per session*
