On Saturday morning of Annual Conference, Rick Churan announced that Stanley Cottrill, a 92-year retired plumber and member of New London UMC, gave $1 million to the Wisconsin United Methodist Foundation for the WUMF Seminary Scholarship Fund. “He is a truly remarkable man,” Churan said. “His legacy gift will support seminary students for many years to come.”

Stanley also donated another $1.3 million to other local groups, including the New London Park and Recreation, New London Library, and local Boy and Girl Scouts.

New London pastor Kate Croskery-Jones said Stanley is “giving while he is living.” When asked what he wanted to tell the Conference, he said “tell them thank you…thank you for being the Church…thank you for being good pastors.”
