An Oneida drum circle called Sky Ridge shared four songs and sanctified the plenary and worship space to begin our Annual Conference. The first song was a grand entry song, and the second was a flag song – their equivalent to our national anthem, which they sing to honor their ancestors and war veterans. “These are the first songs we typically sing when we gather together, ” they said. The last song was a traveling song, sung so that everyone may have a safe journey and that everything goes well on the ride home. “Thank you for inviting us here, allowing us to share this with you,” they said.
