Are you called to direct, develop and oversee a dynamic church-based kitchen that provides various events for the congregation and its guests as well as preparing and delivering food to the most vulnerable in the community? Then, First United Methodist Church is poised to utilize the creative talents of a person like you to meet the dynamic life of an active downtown, justice-oriented congregation as well as work with community partners to develop a mobile food ministry for those in need.
  • This is a full-time position with health & dental insurance.
  • Salary is $37,000-$41,000 depending on experience with additional opportunities for catering service income.
  • The position is supported by a growing core of volunteers who are recruited by both the congregation as well as the Director. The Director will train the volunteers to align with their vision and objectives.
  • The Director is accountable to the supervising pastor staff and is fully part of the larger congregational staff.
Core duties of this position include:
  • Scheduling and providing food and beverage for weekly fellowship gatherings, one-two weekday breakfasts for hungry & homeless guests, receptions for funerals, weddings, special guests and various gatherings of the congregation.
  • Developing, preparing and providing emergency meals as well as mobile meal service to clients in the community as identified by the Director in partnership with coalitions of partners who service the hungry and homeless.
  • Maintaining inventory and managing budget for food and supplies.
  • Managing a volunteer schedule and training (including ServSafe).
  • Developing a “brunch and lunch” at First Church program.
  • Assess and mange the transportation needs of a mobile food ministry.

  • You bring vision and adaptability to a changing environment
  • You have at least two years of culinary experience and possess a ServSafe Manager Food Safety Certificate.
