Check In
Check-in is in the dining hall from 2:30 to 4:00pm on the first day of your camp. When you come into the dining hall Staff (all wearing the same color of shirt) will be available to help you find your way. Don't be afraid to ask them for assistance if you need it. We do not start registration before 2:30pm. If you arrive early, you can enjoy a walk around the camp, or just sit and enjoy the view of the lake until registration begins.
Health Screening
Upon arrival at camp, all campers receive a health screening. Certain conditions may prevent him/her from participating in some camp activities or from attending camp entirely. It may be possible that the child could be allowed into camp after prescribed care is given or to reschedule the session. Camp fee is not refunded when camper arrives with a pre-existing condition.
The camp nurse will need to be updated regarding any changes in your child's health or exam/history information. Please be ready to answer the questions listed below. Talk with the nurse at check-in. You may wish to also leave a signed note if there are changes. (for example, if you give the medication at times different than what is prescribed by the physician) If you are not going to be with your child at check-in, send a signed note regarding any changes.
Questions to answer for the camp nurse:
- Are there any changes since health history form was completed?
- Any changes since doctor's exam?
- Is camper taking any medication?
- Does camper have any allergies (drugs, food, insect bites, etc.)?
- Has camper been exposed to any contagious illness or disease?
- Is camper feeling well now?
- Is there anything else the nurse should know about camper's health?
Medications
The camp nurse is in camp to administer to the health needs of all campers and staff. Any prescription medication that you want your child to take should be give to the nurse upon your child's arrival at camp. Prescription medications must be current and have the camper's name, dosage, and doctor's name on the prescription label. It helps to have all medication together in a clear plastic bag also labeled with the camper's name. All medicines, even over the counter drugs, are kept at the infirmary and are administered under medical supervision. Let the nurse know if any medications must be carried at all times with your child (i.e., inhalers, insect sting kit). All over the counter medicines are administered according to our medical procedures or with written consent by you. You do not need to bring over the counter medicines "just in case". Our Health Center is well stocked with medicines for most common ailments.
Mission Offering
A Mission display will be set up in Oak Lodge. Campers and others will have the opportunity to donate to the various missions at camp check-in and check-out.
Mission Project
We are inviting campers to bring along non-perishable food items such as canned fruits, vegetables, meats, soups, cereal, bags of beans, noodles, etc. Those who do will receive a coupon worth $1.00 off any items from our camp store. The food items will be taken to a local food pantry in Frederic or Grantsburg.
