Local Units! Become energized by learning about and being more involved in missions. Plan now to become a Mission Today Unit this year! Review the following list of 30 suggested activities and decide which of them you may want to try to achieve this year. |

- Fulfill your unit's Pledge to Mission.
- Qualify as a Five-Star Unit by contributing through all 5 channels of Mission Giving.
- Become a Rainbow Unit. To qualify, a unit must have been a Five-Star unit the previous year and then have given an increased amount to Mission giving for the current year.
- At least one person in the unit regularly uses the Prayer Calendar.
- At least one person in the unit corresponds with mission personnel listed in the Prayer Calendar.
- Contribute needed resources to a mission project listed in the Women’s Division Resources for Mission Catalog (#2579), Northcott Neighborhood House, or Children's Services.
- At least one member of the unit, other than a conference or district officer attends the School of Christian Mission.
- The unit contributes at least $25.00 to the School of Christian Mission.
- The unit offers a School of Christian Mission scholarship to a local person.
- Conduct at least one School of Christian Mission study in the unit during the year.
- One or more unit members regularly participate in a "hands on" mission project.
- At least one member of the unit, other than a district or conference officer attends a district mission education event. Example: A trip to a mission project site or distribution center.
- The unit participates in a social action project. See "Why Should I Get involved in Social Issues?" (#5123)
- At least one unit member, other than a conference or district officer, attends the District Annual Gathering.
- At least one unit member, other than a conference or district officer, attends the Conference Annual Gathering.
- Conduct at least two programs from the UMW Program Book during the year.
- Unit has at least two subscriptions to Response Magazine available to members.
- Unit has at least one subscription to New World Outlook available for members.
- Share a Response article at unit meetings at least twice a year.
- At least one member of the unit is a member of the United Methodist Action Network and reports important information to others in the unit.
- Implement the Charter for Racial Justice (#M5005200701) through study, participation in a multicultural event or other action during the year.
- Conduct a yearly study exploring the Biblical basis of Mission. See Mission; Responding to God's Grace (#2851) or Ministries with Women, Children & Youth. (#1892).
- Participate in the UMW Reading Program. See The Reading Program (#5510).
- At least 2 members complete the first level of the Reading Program.
- At least 1 member completes the second level of the Reading Program.
- Begin or maintain a Teen or Young Women's Circle. See Empowering Young Women (#2742) and What’s the Purpose? (#2913).
- Recruit at least 2 new members to your unit. See Guidelines for Attracting Retired Women (#2952).
- Celebrate UMW Sunday. Materials sent yearly from conference officers.
- Co-sponsor with your local church a Children’s Sabbath worship. Materials are available from Children's Defense Fund.
- Have a district officer or representative visit your unit.
