Youth Council New to SUMC
Members include: Pastor Dee, Niki Petit, Dominic Petit, Amy Hess, Andy Hess,
Ron Saccol, Merrilee Saccol, Jean Johnson, Bonnie Paradies, Jane Deuster, Cheri Knutson, Ryan George, Sarah Knutson, Rayanna Longsine, Collin Hess
The first meeting of the youth council established the following guidelines.
Youth group is open to kids in Grades 7-12 for the 2009/10 year and
Confirmation age and above in subsequent years.
Values: to build a strong relationship with others, we need to agree upon the
values with which we will work and play. Values are the strong glue that holds
each one on the same playing field.
Build leadership within the youth: so their voices, and God given skills can be
used. Seek their advice and direction of the youth, including them in church
committees and teams.
Our church vision is a beginning place.
With Christ first, let us covenant together to build passion within and reach out
beyond ourselves into the community.
As a group, what we do and say is to be done always ‘with Christ’ as our
leader. If it is not what you would expect from Christ, then it is not for us.
Covenant together: No one does his or her own thing. To grow as caring,
thinking Christ followers, we need to respect each other. Trust each other. Help
each other.
Passion within: seeking and learning more about what it means to be a follower
of Christ and celebrating the growth seen in each other.
Reach out beyond ourselves into the community: This is where Christ can
lead us, beyond doing just for ourselves. Remember the mission trip of this
summer and mission projects during the year.

Youth Group Notes
SUMC Youth Group meets Wednesday Nights from 6:30-8:00. Youth in grades 7 to 12 from all
schools, all churches, all faiths, all genders, and all areas are invited to attend. No one is
excluded. If you know of a Youth that would like to join us, please have them join us any
Wednesday night or call Dominic and Niki Petit at 434-1168.
