Pastor's Corner

A Note from Pastor Dee

I looked at the last time I wrote for this site; it was the beginning of summer. The seasons have passed quickly. Today it is a very cold day in December. Winter is upon us.

With the waning of the sunlight, we are reminded of the prophet's voice:

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light;

those who lived in a land of deep darkness-

on them light has shined. Isaiah 9.2

We will soon celebrate again that the Light of the World has come to remind us of God's continuing care and love for all people. Even while we wait in this pre-Christmas time to celebrate the coming of God's light, Jesus, we are not without hope. For His light has never been extinguished.

On Christmas Eve, we will light candles to remind us of God's gift to us. Are we ready to receive the Baby of Bethlehem? Have we made room within our lives to receive God's gift to us? Will this Christmas gift from God last more than for the season?

Gradually the sunlight will lengthen and a new year will be upon us. How will we walk through this New Year? Will we be carrying the light of God's love wherever we go? Will we share the good news of God's love for all people?

The light has come. We have a choice to make. It is up to each of us to decide how we receive God's gift.

In the name of the one whose light never fails, may this season of celebration be one where the light of Christ shines forever in your life.

Have a Christ filled Christmas and a light filled New Year.
