Dan Dick, Director of Connectional Ministries for the Wisconsin
Conference, will be leading a seminar for our six circuit churches
on Sunday, February 21, at the New London United Methodist Church.
Formerly on the staff of the UMC General Board of Discipleship in
Nashville, Tennessee, the Rev. Dick is a nationally known speaker,
teacher, and author of thirteen books on spirituality, stewardship,
congregational development, research, and spiritual gifts discovery,
and an advocate for a more loving, inclusive church for the 21st
century and beyond.
The workshop will begin with a light lunch (freewill offering) served
from 11:30-12:30 for those who are able to come right after worship in
their own churches. Beginning at 12:30pm, Dan will speak to us for
about 60-90 minutes on congregational revitalization, leadership
development, the reality of change in the church and discerning our
gifts for service. After a brief break, each circuit church will gather
with their own attendees for about 45-60 minutes of conversation about
Dan's presentation, with time to raise any questions of Dan on an
individual church basis. Following another brief break, the various
committees from each church will meet with their counterparts from the
other circuit churches for an exchange of ideas and experiences
(for example - SPRC folks from all six congregations will meet together
to discuss common issues and concerns). The event will conclude by
approximately 4:30pm. There is no cost for the seminar!
Leaders and leaders-to-be from all of our circuit churches are strongly
encouraged to attend this seminar. It is an opportunity that does not
come along often! Dan Dick is a highly respected and enthusiastic
speaker who loves the United Methodist Church and wants to see it become
even more alive and relevant. Any questions - please speak to your pastor
or call Pastor Lucretia Fehrmann, the circuit leader, at (920) 982-4703.
An estimated count of attendance for lunch and the seminar is requested
by February 17 (Ash Wednesday) so please let your pastor know you want
to attend. Make this event a part of your Lenten commitment!

When the weather is bad and the pastor and the church council chair feel it is
too dangerous to travel to church, we will cancel Sunday service. Listen to
WDUX on the hour and half-hour (sometimes they start five minutes early) at
92.7FM (there may be no announcement during the 8am Lutheran radio program)
and 800AM. We will also notify WFRV, so watch channel 5 or go to www.wfrv.com
and click on “cancellations.” If Kathy Edel is in town, she will send out an
e-mail; make sure the office has your current e-mail address.
If school is cancelled, all daytime and evening meetings will be cancelled at
PUMC. If you have questions, call the church at 258-0412 or the parsonage
at 258-0638.
When in doubt, don’t go out!

With prayers in our hearts and needles in hand,
We’ve made you this shawl, so you’ll understand
That your friends and your family are what make you rich!
Please gather strength from the prayers knit into each stitch!
Life’s not always easy—sometimes it’s a bust!
But you can’t give up now—Carry on, it’s a must.
Wrap this shawl around you to make you feel warm,
And know that God’s love is your “magic” charm.
We’ve knit and we’ve purled, each stitch with much care
So you’ll really know, there’s no end to our prayers!
