With a wonderful outpouring of love and generosity, people from around the world are making a difference in helping survivors of the devastation in Haiti, and Wisconsin United Methodists are among them. In addition to prayers and help with supplies and resources in response to the earthquake, United Methodists have been in Haiti for many years as described by the General Board of Global Ministries here. Some of our United Methodists in mission sadly are victims to the earthquake, including UMCOR leader Rev. Sam Dixon, volunteer Jean Arnwine, and missionary Clinton Rabb. Read their stories here, here, and here.
Sharing God’s gifts is, for Wisconsin United Methodists, an act of faith and worship, demonstration of what we really value and a living out of our relationship to God in Jesus Christ. We add special force and power to our efforts when we come together through our shared offerings and build a system ready and able to respond with God’s love to those most in need doing together what no one congregation could do alone.

CHRISTMAS E-MAIL BULLETIN MUJILA FALLS AGRICULTURE CENTRE 2009
"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light..." (Isaiah 9:2)
Dear Friends and Supporting Congregations,
Again it is the Christmas Season and we are counting our blessings here at Mujila Falls. Much has been accomplished in the past 12 months. Your prayers and your gifts have not been expended in vain. Each day here we are making progress in producing more food, training more people, building a better training center, and bringing people to the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Africa was traditionally known as the "Dark Continent" due to the difficulty of getting information about it. Today, the problem is getting information in to the inhabitants so that they can improve their lives. This has been our work for the past 15 years. Thanks to you and your prayers, valuable information is reaching the hungry and needy in North Western Zambia and Southern Congo. Let us pray that ALL will "see a great light".
Last year when I came back from itineration in the U.S., I found crops unplanted or doing poorly, I found our vehicles broken down and useless, I found our water system unfinished and our rabbit numbers down. We had a bull that wasn't breeding, no corn in the corn crib and our chickens and pigs without feed. |

East Angola: A Mission to Provide Help and Hope
East Angola has been devastated by a war torn past. Their prolonged destabilization has retarded the country’s normal development, giving rise to unemployment and the general deterioration of their buildings and roads. Much of their land cannot be farmed due to the presence of land mines that riddle their fields in unknown places. After 40 years of war, the East Angola Conference emerged with damaged infrastructure and few churches.

WI Task Force Prepares for Visit to East Angola
|
Our Wisconsin Conference is committed to helping the 40 congregations in their Annual Conference that have risen from the ashes. In 2005, our East Angola Task Force visited East Angola and their bishop, Jose Quipungo. At that time, he requested assistance in many areas, including finances and supplies for their medical clinic, office equipment and computers for Conference offices, supplies and resources for local churches, as well as support for their pastors who are paid less than $100 per month--or nothing at all. Many have no transportation and must walk many miles to their churches, leaving their families behind. Their high school, orphanage and School of Theology also need assistance. |
