The Ethnic Local Church Concerns Committee seeks to advocate for, encourage and empower the local ethnic ministries and leaders throughout the Wisconsin Conference of The United Methodist Church. The Committee provides funding to ethnic churches for Summer Developer ministries, and scholarships to ethnic pastors for the advanced course of study in seminary and for ministry preparation in college.
The Ethnic Local Church Concerns Committee may consist of one representative each from the Cabinet, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, Youth Ministries Council, Commission on the Status and Role of Women, Conference Strategy Board, Board of Higher Education and Student Ministry, Board of Church and Society, and the Commission on Religion and Race. The goal is to also have each of the following caucuses name three representatives: Korean, Hmong, Hispanic/Latino, Native American and Black United Methodists for Church Renewal. Ideally, the Committee will also include seven at-large members representing ethnic local churches in consultation with the Conference Nominations Committee.
