Youth at FUMC

Youth Ministries at First United Methodist Church focus on inviting youth to share the experience of a living God. Our programs help encourage their growth, commitment, and understanding of a personal relationship with God. It is our hope that each youth will be given the opportunity to grow in spiritual maturity so as to transform the world through compassion and mission. Youth Ministries serves Middle School Youth (6th, 7th, and 8th grades) and Senior High Youth (9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grades).

Come one, come all!

Open doors is easy to say but we have a huge construction mess going on! It's easy to say "open minds" but so often we find obstacles. We must open our hearts and use the eyes of God to see the world. This may help our minds to be open to new things and the world to know our open door. Ultimately, God has opened the door of our community for us, he just asks us to be his door stop - construction and cliques or not!

"And friends are friends forever
If the Lord's the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
Cause the welcome will not end"

- MIchael W. Smith, "Friends"

It's important to connect with one another. It's important to love one another. It's important to live in community. This does not mean we all find our best friends or have the same interests at church. This means we make an effort, we open our hearts and we look at one another with God's love. Living in community means a love, kindness and openness that is not easy to achieve. The exclusive walls of cliques come down. Old ways, traditions and ideals are constantly being changed and challenged.

We can celebrate living in an ever-changing world. We can be thankful our God is with us on this journey. We can look to Him on how to approach new times and new ways with His love for His world.

Let's allow Jesus to be Lord over our friendships and our community and to live in our hearts. The movement of the Spirit may do radical things and we may find deeper love than we've ever known before!

Whoo hoo!
