FUMC Food Pantry

Here's What Our Volunteers Are Saying:
"I come here exhausted after work, and leave energized!" - C.W.
"You meet so many interesting people here." - M.P.
"This work is exhilarating." - M.F.

The First United Methodist Church (FUMC) Food Pantry was established in 1984 with the mission to provide "take-home" groceries to individuals, families, and households experiencing crisis.

The Food Pantry is open at the following times: Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Pantry guests, please call 251-4407 to make a reservation for the Food Pantry. Please call between 9 and 10 a.m. on the day you wish to come in.

We welcome all new and returning volunteers! There is a spot on a pantry team for you!!

We invite you to come and visit the new operation. Volunteers assist clients with food choices, pick up bread, produce, and donations; grocery shop at the Food Bank and work in the pantry office. Gently-used clothing and household items are welcome. Please call Susan Jeannette at 256-9061.

The food pantry at First Church serves anywhere from 800 - 1,200 people per month. Typically, more than half of those served are children ages 18 years and younger.

Our core group of volunteers, numbering around 60, is comprised of caring folk from FUMC and individuals outside the congregation. Our volunteers represent a wide range of age groups, from middle school students to senior citizens and come from a variety of backgrounds and traditions.

There is never a lack of things to do at the First Church Food Pantry. Individuals wishing to volunteer can be matched up with any number of jobs that suit them - grocery shelf stocking, hands-on service to clients, grocery shopping, office work including data entry, client registration, and a myriad of other duties.

Everyone seems to benefit from the FUMC Food Pantry. New friendships are created among clients, clients and volunteers, and between volunteers. It is a blessing and a privilege to serve each other in the name of the risen Christ.

If you would like to make a financial contribution to the food pantry, you may send it to:
